Suddenly I remember what I wanted to share.

Knives!

Good advice about them.
When buying kitchen knives, avoid kitchen stores.
Of course you will need to buy a good bread knife and a large bladed knife and probably a little paring knife from some sort of kitchen store BUT…

When buying knives to slice meat, ignore all the expensive, lovely knives in the kitchen store, get yourself into a camping/fishing type store and get yourself some filleting knives from the fishing section. They are cheap as chips and so so so much better at holding a sharp edge than expensive ones from the kitchen store. Best yet they are so cheap you don’t mind replacing them when you have too.

Husband is a mad keen fisherman and has a cheap set of filleting knives that I was always purloining to cut up chicken. For my birthday this year I asked for my own set. They are actually quite fancy too (see crappy picture). Like the funky little stainless steel soap for getting fishiness off your hands? Now we are both happy 🙂

Its good advice!

40, on my way to 40 something...Still not sure what I want to do when I grow up, retire probably... Food obsessed, love to cook it, read about it, eat it... Chock full of useless information that crowds out the useful stuff sometimes.
