If you think missing out on junk food on Friday night was bad, can you imagine the utter horror when on Saturday I suggested burgers for dinner and then promptly made them myself. Few things in the world are as utterly miserable as a child deprived of junk food for 2 days in a row, especially when they have an almost guaranteed expectation of getting it. It could be argued that I do these things on purpose but that wouldn’t be strictly true…
That said, this recipe got a rousing thumbs up, even from the more miserable parties involved. It was a super simple recipe that required a minimum of effort, always a plus especially when it meets with real approval from the test subjects. We had these in flat hamburger rolls with the obligatory salad and sauce (I skipped the sauce in mine, it was juicy enough)
Easy Salsa Burgers
1kg ground beef
1/3 cup picante sauce (mild or hot to your liking)
1/3 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
1 teaspoon pepper
Combine all ingredients in a large mixing bowl.
Form mixture into 6-8 patties; layer patties in some aluminum
foil and refrigerate to firm them up. Broil, grill or
bake to desired doneness.
